(37,540 posts)126. I loved all their studio stuff up to those albums.
Wake of the Flood and Blues for Allah were incredibly great and totally creative - My 20 something daughter just borrowed my WOTF CD for a Nrw Years Party and she's now ripping the music from it to share with a bunch of people who raved on the sound. 
Alabama Getaway and In the Dark...meh. To each his own, I guess... OTOH, I think their live sound from that era with Brent was outstanding....sadly, the digital video recording technology was about 15 years too late to catch the early stuff - late 60's/nid-70's when I think they were in their most creative period.
I cannot argue with this, though - [l]None of the versions compare to the way they were done live.[/l] They were a fearless live band who took creative risks...they didn't always succeed, but when they were on, they were the best.
