(7,964 posts)I would recommend you reread her post here. It calls people out for saying we have to run a "white, young male, etc." Right there on the page. Who has said that, or even implied that? I wait for examples of what you say is "quite a few people" who said we have to run a white man - not that they like someone (who happens to be white), but that it has to be a white person.
I never said we can't talk about race. What we can't do is accuse people of things they aren't saying. I believe the talk of Beto is directly related to the impression he made while running for Senate, not because he's white or young or male. I saw Obama speak when he ran for Senate in the primary and had the same feeling of inspiration from him that I got from Beto.
I don't know if he is the right candidate for 2020, but most of the things being used against him also apply to others, but they get a pass for some reason. Some of us look at the various candidates and have pros and cons about all of them, but apparently some of those candidates won't even get a chance. Again for some reason that hasn't been explained.
