(75,480 posts)17. More accurately, we have enabled banana republicanism in many nations due
to the Monroe Doctrine, but didn't have to suffer it ourselves. Now it is being brought to us. The increase of homeless and poor people and shrinking of the middle class is a sure sign of it. The suppression of our voter rights by tea party elected officials and many other rights being taken from us by homeland security is another sign.
