(23,195 posts)I know Jeffries is in Democratic leadership but I do not know enough about either him or his district to have a well formed opinion on this potential challenge (or challenger), if true.
Both AOC and Jeffries got into Congress by winning a primary against an incumbent Democrat. Both can be primaried themselves if anyone wants to run against them (or support someone running against them.) I do not oppose primaries when each candidate represents themselves truthfully and is sincere abut why they are running. It is then up to the voters to decide.
I know the arguments against primaries that involve a Democratic incumbent. They make sense, but I think they are outweighed by the argument that democracy involves choices and let the voters decide. The first time Barack Obama ran for Congress he ran against a Democratic incumbent (and lost).
