(54,770 posts)job, but it added a little to what he made on his small dairy farm.
I also remember the guys who'd walk to deliver mail with the big leather bag over their shoulder. I guess that hasn't worked in years with all the packages and stuff.
I do think today's mail delivers tend to take some shortcuts, maybe forced by management. Still happy with the service and their mission, but I have seen them fill out the form when a signature is required, stick it in the mailbox, without coming to the door. I usually worked at home and would see them pull up and run out "I'm here." They'd always look like a little kid caught doing something wrong.
I now live in a neighborhood where there are central mailboxes, so seldom see the mail deliverer. And, darn, they'll stuff packages in the boxes that it takes a crowbar to get out.
But, I agree with the Happy Holidays for a good government program.
