and important. You are right in that Trump's presidency didn't just happen ….the social-political environment allowed for his diseased character to assume the presidency. And the right-wing media was a huge influence.

I like to view all social-political constructs by using the model of a mobile hanging over an infant's crib. When one piece moves, all of the others must adjust. (Otherwise, the one piece is essentially cut off by the entrenched pieces.) We are seeing the beginnings of that shift, as the Mueller & SDNY pieces are on the move. Some cowardly republicans are beginning to voice opposition to Trump, if only to insure the comfort of their own place on the mobile. And a few Fox cast members are starting to call Trump out.

One important issue that you highlight is that the alt-right will become more entrenched, hence more actively dangerous. I so wish that was not the case, but it surely is. We will need to isolate them, then cut them off from civilized society.
