In reply to the discussion: Sanders contrite as 2016 aides face harassment allegations [View all]KitSileya
(4,035 posts)33. Now is the best time. These women obviously still support him.
They want him to do better for 2020, now that he's hinting at running again, but they made sure to wait to go public until after his 2018 re-election campaign, so they didn't hurt that. Why now is because now is the least harmful time for Sanders, yet the best time for these women to expect an amelioration in the future.
Of course, according at least one accuser, Sanders knew in 2016, and instead of anything happening, she was blacklisted, and Jane Sanders welcomed this woman's harasser with open arms to the Gathering last Nowember. The others were perhaps afraid of simlar consequences if they went public in 2016.

Most women that are put in that position hesitate until something happens that force them forward.

The allegations were made public two years ago, in March 2017. The LA Times reported the story.

I wonder if it may have been due to inaction that the letter was made available to the media.

I've never seen Bernie express actual contrition for any of his sins...

Neither have I. I don't think that I have ever heard him say that he was wrong about a condition

I voted for Bernie in my state primary. After this I wouldn't do it again.
