6. when russia 'democratized' a lot of people wanted to get to know them better

and it wasn't all business but with putin de-democratizing it got more appealing to political american right. i'll bet the kremlin's been working them a long time and that would familiarize them with rw radio, its gods (oh, hey we've got this guy named rush limbaugh), and its success in fooling liberals
