(37,115 posts)Frankly, it's hard to imagine ANYTHING that did not go well for her due to home schooling. Both of her parents are university profs (although we were college and grad students for much of the time she was actually home schooling). We're atheists, so the decision to home school had nothing to do with religious instruction-- in fact, she was the one who requested it after spending several years in Montessori school before transferring to public school, where she was WAY ahead of her age group.
on edit-- we did not follow any particular curriculum, nor do regular testing, etc. We gave her books to read and discuss and brought her to the lab for access to microscopes and such. Most of her learning was self directed. She did a top notch job, IMO.
