(25,528 posts)I believe Bernie, should he decide to run, would do things a bit differently... certainly enough to "bring it home" for the Democratic Party, especially in the midwest and with a more populist progressive agenda, featuring medicare for all, a Green New Deal, a refusal to take corporate/Wall Street PAC money, forgiveness of college debt, significant tax fairness overhaul ensuring billionaires pay their fair share etc etc, issues that he has taken the lead on to bring front and center for a very long time now.
It's not like he's "late to the party," given the decades-long progressivism he has demonstrated... Bernie is the real deal and, thus, rightfully deserves his turn at a second shot at the presidency.
To your point, this is NOT the same as saying Bernie's entitled to it... he certainly would not take it for granted. No doubt, he'd work his tail off, every day, to make it happen, at least as hard as any other candidate, much his junior in age... maybe even harder. He has a track record for doing that.
