that can't afford proper heating. Some homeless, sick and elderly folks will die from exposure.....

Just as bad, improper use of space heaters invariably results in house fires and death......

Aside from those hazards, one of the worst problems is frozen water pipes. Here in north central Kentucky, pipes are buried only 3-to-4 ft. deep and the ground can freeze in spots quickly with temperatures and winds they're predicting tonight. Mine has frozen at the meter pit near the street, so I started placing a plastic garbage can lid over it with some bricks to retain it and that has worked. However, we still keep water dripping anytime we have weather like tonight will bring.

A bunch of weak car batteries will bite the dust, too.
