1. Democrats often do not agree with each other about what their base is.

I'm more concerned about the way you use the word "democrat." Are you, by some chance, not a Democrat?

For example, Democrats do not say "democrat runners." They say, "Democratic runners." Democrat is a noun. Democratic is the adjective form. It is also capitalized when referring to the political party, which is the "Democratic Party."
