Both my brother and I left home at age 17 to go to college that was covered by scholarships and student loans. The money we made from our jobs paid for our books, transportation and personal expenses so that our parents didn't have to support us except for emergency or medical necessities. It was good that we were working as teens since our Dad went out on disability from his job when I was in college.
