and thereby come home an hour earlier so as to better utilize the sunlight in their off-hours.
Getting all the businesses in the US to agree to shift summer hours simultaneously would be impossible, so instead, you change the numbers.
Alternatively, I recall Carter trying year-round DST but parents complained about their children waiting for school busses in the dark.

So I guess DST means the earth slows it's rotation, during the day, to get more sun?
