56. Wealth and privilege is based on racism in this country

I’m not going to claim you’re wrong when you aren’t. But you’re not going deep enough if you think wealth and privilege isn’t about suppression of all others. I will go even further and posit that it can’t exist without denying economic benefits to others.

The plantation industry as it existed in the South existed ONLY because of slavery. If you want to know how deeply slavery is reflected in our present day social foundation start by looking a who built the White House, the very symbol of freedom. It was slave labor and I’m sure some white dude got ALL the credit and the wealth from it. Then go from there.

Then take a look at the farming industry of the past and the present and you can probably guess what I’m going to say. It has brought wealth to the privileged through the labor of oppressed Latinos who are underpaid and exploited n conditions designed to keep them poor and so economically needy that they’ll endure slavelike conditions just to survive. It’s an example of modern day slavery.
