(46,155 posts)We do indeed recognize that Republicans are the problem, which is something JPR simply is not capable of. They seem to believe if all Democrats were swept away the glorious socialist revolution would come. That's neither rational or logical.
I think we are generally united here at DU about electing democrats who are liberals and progressives. But also understand having a democratic majority in the House and Senate means we get to set the agenda on what bills are voted on and what goes on rather than having asshole Republicans (McConnell and formerly Ryan) control that. And I know we are ready to work like hell to get a Democrat in the White House to undo the heinous things Trump has done.
There is a lot of harshness right now in the Primary Subforum.
Some of it is legitimate questioning so folks can figure out who is the best candidate to defeat Trump. Who is financially transparent, who is tough and fast on their feet at attacking Repubiican politicians, what are their voting records and are they willing to answer tough questions about their records and statements.
To make maybe a bad analogy it is like a job interview. There is stuff we need to know to chose the best candidate.
However there is also stuff that is just divisive bashing and name calling.
For example, I saw a post today that insinuated Beto must be a liar like John Edwards because they had similar poses on a magazine cover. While I'm unlikely to support Beto in the primary, I did push back on that slimy piece of innuendo. Leave that to fox and the crazies on twitter. We are here to talk policy, discuss actual statements and voting records. So if things seem hostile and over the line, please push back.
On the other hand, I am also considering hiding the primary forum this time out. That might be an option for you as well.
