Anyway, I agree that people shouldn't be shocked by any of this. It's been clear for some time that the Republicans, who are the only ones with the actual power to actually do anything about this travesty, are all-in on this rancid piece of shit, and will continue to protect him and his family regardless of what evidence comes to light.

Fuck 'em; resist. Their outmoded way of thinking needs to be eradicated from this planet entirely. And this current crew I think understands that the right wing's grasp on power is slipping due to the inevitable tide of demographic changes, and they need to take drastic steps if they don't want to be pushed out of the picture entirely. So, they don't make any pretense about caring about the rule of law anymore--they see it as unfair that their cruel and backward ideology isn't given more credence by the "intellectuals" and entertainers of the world. Like, "why is Mr. Burns on the Simpsons always made out to be the bad guy?"
