It's ironic. The reason he doesn't count anymore is his own supposed followers.

Instead, trump is their laughable 21st century version of the golden calf - an empty orange clown that puts his fake name up in gold letters everywhere for his followers to see and worship.

2 Timothy 4:3-4
3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Matthew 24:24
24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
