(37,648 posts)My stress was thru the roof, as I did my taxes, not knowing what to expect. But I came out the same or better. Hard to say because my income varies each year, plus I got an extra deduction for hitting age 65 (surprise! I didn't know about that!). Phew. I dodged a bullet.
I think if a poor family has a day care exemption/deduction, I think I read that is decreased, since it goes by a percentage, now, and poor people have a lower income. Or it's been changed in some way. I remember thinking that that is going to result in a tax increase for those families. BUT, the more income you have, the bigger the daycare deduction or whatever it is. It seemed unfair to me that the more you need help w/daycare expense, the less help you get under the new tax law.
