So happy we have some hope in Ohio after all [View all]

Friday Federal judges threw out Ohio's Congressional Map because of Partisan Gerrymandering.

Exhibit A has to be OH-01 in the SW corner of Ohio. As you can see it has been hideously gerrymandered. The way it was drawn up in 2000-2009 OH-01 would have been very winable. When they redrew it in 2010 they included Republican rich Warren County since the GOP didn't need that to win OH-08. Just for good measure they took much of the Dem Stronghold of the East Side of Hamilton County and placed it in OH-02 there the Dems have never won. The result, OH-01 is nearly impossible to win. We ran popular Aftab Pureval in 2016. Outside of having an issue with one of his campaign staff he ran a strong campaign but Chabot ended winning handily over Pureval.

Unless there was a major demographic change or a court ruling, Chabot pretty much has a lifetime job in OH-01. We now have that lower court ruling. This will probably end up in the SCOTUS but there is still a ray of hope in the darkness.
