lending institutions ask millions of their customers for copies of their taxes when reviewing loan applications. This isn't science. It's smart and responsible lending, to ensure that they don't get stiffed in the long run.

Why is rump so special and exempt from this same request and why is he being so adamant in not showing his returns?

Because simply, there is a problem with his taxes, in that he's lied on them and lied on them big time. Look at his history on lying ... already over 10000 lies and going. Since more than likely he's perjured himself on his tax returns, he's already guilty of a financial crime of sorts, both federal and state.
