(15,359 posts)if it's not strictly right-wing propaganda, it's liberal lies.
Most people, even some on our side, don't fully understand what a straight news story vs editorial opinion is. I spent three years in high school on a true college level journalism program. National Scholastic Achievement award for the best high school newspaper in the country, for the 13th year in a row when I graduated. As a rookie sophomore, I and everyone else got busted repeatedly for injecting opinion into news stories we were working on. You really can't help it. It takes practice to not do it. My grammar doesn't always reflect the training these days. I literally went 20 years without typing anything at one stretch. It's easy to forget the basics.
I've tried to explain to right wingers that journalists at one time, probably were mostly liberal, but that didn't mean they wouldn't give you the straight news. Wealthy people and business men didn't exactly encourage their kids to go into journalism. It's a rough way to make a living starting out as a cub reporter. We really don't have the kind of newspaper industry I'm talking about anymore anyway.
It used to be that the people on TV came up through the ranks, starting in newspapers or small TV stations to make the big time. They definitely would have tended to be liberal. It's not really that way now.
