In reply to the discussion: DU Class of 2004, check in. [View all]NewJeffCT
(56,830 posts)128. I joined in October 2003 - thanks to Bill O'Reilly
Al Franken's book "Lying Liars..." came out in September of 2003 (just looked it up) and I remember O'Reilly tried to start a campaign to ban the book. So, naturally, I went out and bought it and read it and thought it was awesome.
However, when I tried looking for liberal forums on the internet, I had a distinct lack of luck. I finally found a site called OReilly Sucks or something like that - when I posted a more general question on the forum rather than just anti-O'Reilly, the site owner responded that I could probably found better information on DU, and I signed up right away.
And, now I'm heading towards my 16th anniversary here and have over 50K posts.
