Building codes are troublesome. Real men don't need no dang gubbermint agent tellin' 'em to build sturdier structures that can withstand tornado force winds. Why pay for advanced weather tracking and warning systems, or pay for scientists to study better methods to improve pubic safety when that tax money could be spent on something fun... Like a sports franchise?

Since global warming is a hoax there's no need to plan for increasingly dangerous weather and storms. Sure, go ahead and build that huge housing track in the old river basin, why it ain't never seen a trickle in living memory. Y'all will be just fine.
