(9,671 posts)35. The ad is meant to confirm "what everybody knows"- especially when what they know is false.
The ad doesn't mention race but blatantly panders to racists by feeding their confirmation bias- "everybody knows the real problem in America is welfare queens."
The cynical calculation is that they will gain more by motivating their racist base than they will lose to "independents" who are finally disillusioned by one lie too many.
Obama saying it's a lie is just one more point of confirmation for the GOP basest.

Those figures don't look right to me at all, and the phrase "Welfare pays more...." is misleading.
