16. Libertarians like Gillespie annoy and baffle me

They'll try to convince you libertarianism is the best way to organize a modern society, though Libertarians never really define their end goals beyond "getting government out of the way" and doing away with a few other pet peeves.

Someone should ask them if libertarianism is such a good idea, why can't they name at least one nation with minimal government, free trade, open borders, decriminalized drugs, no welfare state, no public education system and whatever else these imaginary utopias enjoy. That's when they start hedging.

Such places don't work because functioning countries have to exist in the real world, and serve the needs of the majority of their citizens. Libertarianism seems to be the perfect sociopolitical ideology for fourteen-year-old boys, not for adults.
