They care more about their pet social issues - abortion, anti-LGBT laws, guns - than what Jesus actually commanded them to do, like feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, caring for the sick, etc. IIRC, he actually said you'd go to Hell if you didn't do those things (Matthew 25), but they still care more about protecting their guns, persecuting LGBT people and immigrants, and depriving women of their reproductive rights (none of which Jesus ever mentioned). So I guess they'll go to Hell, but that doesn't help us much right now.
