(32,640 posts)if they are in that particular state, then someone needs to be ACCOUNTABLE!! If I'm not happy with how things are going then SOMEONE OWES ME AN EXPLANATION!!! This CAN'T be right!! Somebody had better make this better RIGHT NOW!! I MEAN IT!! UNACCEPTABLE!! This is OUT of CONTROL!! MAKE IT STOP RIGHT NOW, OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY!
Privilege is showing it's head all over DU. White male fragility especially - that's the response when they are subject to something that's not in their control, because most of the time the world seems to be following the lead of what they find comfortable - and when they aren't, the want to SPEAK TO THE MANAGER RIGHT NOW. (Women, too - like Barbeque Becky..)
Certainly anger is the thing that gets one over the hump when one's consciousness is raised about how bad things really are. But perpetual outrage with progressive allies who are "producing the results" fast enough for those in our culture who are used to things revolving around them is unproductive and pretty self-defeating.
Imagine if people of color had turned on MLK for NOT DOING ANYTHING while things didn't move as fast legislatively as they wanted. The movement would have never lasted.
What I see in the OP is someone giving in to a rage wallow at our allies, and wanted some company and validation that they aren't fragile, they are being personally jerked around by... by.... SOMEBODY.
I won't create scapegoats out of ignorance and an inability to cope with the fact there are some things deeply affecting me and my emotional life that are beyond my power. Some people used to society jumping to their aid when they get uncomfortable aren't coping well with what the rest of us have had to deal with in one way or another most of our lives.
