...ended up with everything everywhere. My ex-husband who lived in an apartment was asleep when it hit and said it was like being tumbled in a dryer with all his furniture. Some old friends who had a house had every single thing thrown out of every cupboard and shelf.

If you can't immediately get outdoors, under a desk is a good place.
