48. You know, this is the sort of statement that implies the speaker knows the exact opposite is true.

IMO, when you hear a speaker that you find good, you usually talk about your response to it. When you know they were lousy but feel obligated to prop up the fantasy, you talk about how much everyone else enjoyed it, as if saying that can make it true. And the more extreme your statement, the more aware you are of the speaker's deficits. If you were at a Biden speech for example, you might say, "he knocked it out the park. I thought he was fantastic and the crowd seemed to love him" as opposed to the absolutist, "there wasn't a person out there who didn't love him".

So Meghan McCain is really saying that she knows that a significant chunk of women, including Republicans, didn't warm up to Ann Romney.
