24. i'm really getting the feeling that racism IS kind of normal for this country

Americans' forebears built this nation on the backs of African slaves
racism was the law of the land until the mid-1960s
i thought it was on the way out 12 goddam years ago, but i was very wrong. hell, i have never been so wrong.
if nothing else, 2016 should have served as a clarion call to all of us that there are vast pockets of openly racist voters who enjoy voting for racists.

perhaps the Breitbart asshole is now the perfect TV news guest for our "Great" nation. it's only fair that people worldwide know what sort of nation we have become, or returned to being, or some combination of the two.

condemn racism? absolutely, but we can't ever ignore it or what its proponents are saying. not anymore. never again, i hope.
