14. Bourdain had a way with words.

And a deep abiding love of food from everywhere. I live in Canada, and it's tough getting real Mexican food here. Mostly the closest we get is pretty average TexMex, but there are a few spots that are just amazing. Real delicious and rich mole sauce, tart and amazing Mexican-style ceviche, there are some amazing spots. My hubby grew up in Houston, TX, and also worked in restaurants there, and learned a lot from the many Mexican workers he shared the kitchen with.

Of course, the hospitality industry in Canada is a little different from the USA. Ours does not run quite so much on Mexican workers, but there would be no restaurants of note if suddenly all of the Sri Lankans departed from Canada.
