(19,204 posts)My thoughts exactly. The American people neither care about or deserve the freedoms they enjoy. They imagine things will carry on the exact same way - on auto-pilot - without their interest or participation being necessary. They're wrong, of course, so the well prepared forces of fascism are taking over this country unimpeded. They've been plotting and planning this takeover for more than 50 years and they've finally won without a shot ever being fired. The American people won't realize this until it's far too late. It's a fait accompli.
I'm mulling over what my next step is. My entire family is here in the U.S. but I can't see myself living in this country much longer. At almost 70 years of age I'm too damned old to keep up this fight. It's over anyway. There's nothing we can do. Our democratic "leaders" are far too timid "keeping our powder dry", and not wanting to make waves so they can hang on to their own phony-baloney jobs. They won't have them much longer anyway. Opposition will not be allowed shortly, so Speaker Pelosi can ride off into the sunset with her "dignity" in tact, knowing that she was the last line of failed defense this country had. I hope she can live with that.
