If he backtracks now, then he is basically admitting that he is both a partisan hack and was welcoming foreign interference. He's all in. I believe that he said that passing the bill would ensure Democratic majorities, but he didn't say that it would be because Democrats are cheating. He knows that in actually fair elections, our side WAY outnumbers their side and our policies are better for the vast majority of people.

The difference is that Republicans don't care if they hurt their own supporters as long as they win. Democrats don't care if people who vote Republican benefit from Democratic policies as long as government is helping the majority of Americans. We want government to work for everyone. They want government to ensure the powerful stay powerful.
