(5,340 posts)17. Because it's tempting on its face as a easy comparison
"All Swiss men have automatic weapons, it's not the guns at all!" is a lot easier than trying to work out deeper reasons and practical, effective restrictions that would be passable in the US (IMO "it's JUST the guns so take every single one" isn't much better but I really don't want to get into that here).
The limitation to buying and using ammo at the range is only for government-issued military-specification ammo though; it looks like you can buy private ammo and keep it at home with no issues.

OP
SIG 550. 30-round magazines. Full-automatic fire. The "genuine" version of what was used here.

Ammunition is sold at range and must be used there . Well then why compare to here as OP did?

You really should keep comments like that to people who haven't personally experienced it.

I'm telling you, you can't buy ammo out of a vending machine in Switzerland without a permit.

Looks more like ammo for military/emergency weapons that can no longer be kept at home.

Honestly, I think it might be a repository for military ammunition in the case of an emergency.

Oh BS. Guns are difficult to purchase in Switzerland. Permits to carry are rare. Ammo is restricted.

How many military-type assault rifles do the Swiss own? Here it's 15-20 million.

So your OP is stunningly wrong since it says "Switzerland has as many guns as the US".

Cultures are not the same, and other nations do not have constitutional rights to own guns.

I said that in this thread earlier this morning but evidently it's not a popular idea.
