4. The Old Guard Republicans may be ready to make their move

to run a different candidate for 2020. I think they have a few people in Trump's White House who were able to prepare the statement for Trump to read.

William Barr is actually an Old Guard Republican, having help George Herbert Walker Bush cover up Iran-Contra.

Mitt Romney has strong credentials for 2020-once the whole country wakes up to Russia's role.

Romney is on video in 2012 describing Russia as our main adversary-many people laughed at him at the time--but in retrospect he will look as though he was wise.

George P. Bush, Jeb's son, who is of Mexican descent (mother is Mexican), and speaks Spanish may be a possibility or they may save him for later. He holds a state-wide office in Texas and has just denounced the El Paso mass shooting. He is in his 40s, and would run as a Washington Outsider- which his Uncle George actually managed to do despite being the son of a president

Nikki Haley seems to have been positioning herself as as a vp candidate for some time now (I don't see the Republican Party running a woman for president). Nikki has kept some distance from Trump on Russia while she served at UN, plus as governor in SC she moved swiftly after the church massacre to take the confederate flag off state property.

If the Old Guard doesn't think they can win in 2020 they will focus on state legislatures and Congress, and try to see that a Democrat whom they think they can beat in 2024 is elected president in 2020.

Much as I would like to see the Republican Party disappear, I think it is unlikely.

They were able to use Trump to get their Federalist judges into place but Trump is now too much of a liability.
