elections, what he is doing here is trying to get progressives to understand that if they don't work hard, Romney's money could win the election.
By stating it as even a possibility, the likelihood is that people who have been sitting back doing nothing other than voting in November may wake up and realize they need to start working hard, as they did in 2008. Pointing out the reality that if Obama is outspent by Romney, the only way he can win is by having a huge army of people working to get out the vote.
Iow, I think he's trying to light a fire over the less than enthusiastic Democrats who worked so hard in 2008.
