(13,492 posts)Last year, the payment to farmers was ok, though it didnt fully cover their losses. This year, the formula for who gets what has been changed, and he is getting far less than last year. Given the power of the corporate farms, I suspect more of the money is going to them and less to the smaller farmers. That could make a difference in 2020.
If China wants to influence the 2020 election, all they have to do is refuse to negotiate any further with Trump. US exports account for only 20% of their GDP, and they can increase exports to the rest of the world (like trading oil for exports to Iran) to make up some of their losses. If Trumps trade war debacle is still going on in November 2020, some of his base will desert him. Unfortunately, if the trade war is still going on, well likely also be in a recession.
