New York's is always the last 2 week of August, ending on Labor Day.

In Maine, back in the day, we had Wednesday off from school during Fair Week in September

Because the kids have money from tasseling the corn which isn't ready yet for harvest.

The state fair actually starts the last week of Sept and goes through October 20.
