(3,167 posts)it reminds me of the book "Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James Loewen. One of the main points he makes is that in school history is taught as a bunch of inevitable outcomes while discounting the efforts that it took to make change. If I'm not mistaken (which is very possible as it has been years since I read the book and I can't check because it is in storage) Gandhi is one of the examples he uses of how change is made.
After reading the book it kind of ruined some movies for me. My wife loves the movie "The Incredible Mr. Limpet", but then I read "Lies My Teacher Told Me" and "Bloodstained Sea" and I started to wonder if the movie was kind of insulting to all the men who lost their lives in the North Atlantic:
