72. Going to grade school in the 1960s

girls couldn't wear pants. In North Dakota. And we *had* to go outside for recess no matter how cold it was. We used to huddle up on the side of the school away from the wind with our bare legs freezing. In the early 1980s I had a hell of a time getting a credit card. I was married but didn't take my husband's last name so no one would issue me a card because our names were different. And to the upstream poster about working in advertising, it hadn't changed a whole lot by the 1980s. I worked in TV ad production and we were still seen as secretaries who also wrote, shot and edited ads.
