(2,149 posts)116. I've heard a lot, and I mean a lot, of conservative commentators
say that safety nets such as social security and medicare/medicaid should be abolished (no surprise there) and that services provided by them should be covered by charities and local churches (for example, there have been a couple of local church-run fundraisers for ill people with not enough insurance where I used to live). That's what my comment meant. I didn't mean large, church-run schools. I meant churches providing only the basics of literacy, mathematics and science.
Sorry for the confusion, I can get that way when I get snarky.
