It probably seemed like a good idea at the time, and it was hard to admit it was really a very bad idea. Everyone since has to be completely tone deaf, since it has been such a source of humor for years. Comb-overs have been such a joke for so long, that it's hard understand that any man too "vain" to go totally shaved or wear a GOOD hairpiece actually thinks the comb-over (or comb forward like Trump) works for HIM.
