OK, everybody stop picking on Clint Eastwood. [View all]
***For those of you who were upset by this, or took it seriously, I truly and humbly apologize. It was meant to be a humorous post on why Eastwood was so awful. Perhaps I should have labeled it more clearly, or, now that I have the full story, not done it at all. Perhaps I should self-delete, but I didn't want to leave without an explanation and an apology.

Hes not smoking anything (that I know of), hes not crazy, nor is he getting senile or having a senior moment. Hes simply becoming a sad old man.
Clint, I can sympathize. I, myself, have been a sad old man for some years now. Of course, Im not a rich or famous sad old man like you, but your wealth and fame must make being a sad old man even worse. I mean, nobody expects much from me. They figure Im good for taking up space on a park bench, or trying to find my glasses, which Im wearing atop my head. But they dont ask me to get up before the Republican convention and be clever and entertaining.
Now, its not your fault Clint. You probably didnt know you were a sad old man. God knows, it crept up on me before I knew it. The problem that blindsided you is that sad old men are not as clever and entertaining as they think they are. I get that from the kids all the time. And Clint, the chair routine didnt work. Thats just going to set everybody wondering if you do need meds (which it has).
So, what now? Well, there really is no option other than to embrace your sad-old-man-ness. When on talk shows always discuss how movies were better done in your day. Tell everybody who will listen that the last truly great president was Reagan. And dont forget to constantly mumble to yourself about how the world has gone to hell in a hand-basket.
I actually find it a joyous thing, to be a sad old man. People dont bug me anymore. I can do as I please all day (although Im jealous of sad old men like you, who have the money to what they want). Life moves at a more sedate pace for us. But you have to embrace it.
Remember what I said about sad old men not being particularly entertaining? Yes, you may have gotten a couple of laughs at the convention, but keep in mind the woman who threw peanuts at the camera lady. Obviously that group didnt understand humor anyway.
So sit on the porch, have a beer and relax. Life is good. But dont yell at the kids to keep off your lawn. That gives us sad old men away every time. And its just one short step from that to using the phrase damn young whippersnappers.
