8. Somebody, in another thread, suggested that they investigate right up to the election....then

....they could table it until after the election.

There are a lot of "ifs and "buts", but if they maintain control of the House, win the Senate, and Trump were to "somehow" hold on to the White House, then they could begin impeachment proceedings immediately after the new Congress is sworn in.
