(60,981 posts)Eastwood, regularly called an icon, went fall over the line. Imagine if any Democratic star had suggested anything like that at the DNC convention - in prime time no less.
Do you remember that John Kerry had to distance himself from a crude, stupid, not even funny joke that Whoopi Goldberg made BEFORE Kerry was even at a fundraiser? It was right - both politically and personally - in saying it was inappropriate. Here, Romney and a huge part of the Republican party were all sitting there. Yet the only displeasure any of them have mentioned was that it prevented the Romney video being seen before his acceptance speech and that it was a political faux pas. No one is even calling for Romney to disown this piece of idiocy. (Note - I don't care that Eastwood is an "icon", Goldberg had her fans as well and they were not happy that Kerry did not say it was ok - the fact is that just as Kerry's comments reflected his basic decency, Romney's silence if it continues means he owns what HE allowed at his convention.)
