(7,604 posts)I know NOTHING about strangers. That's why they're STRANGERS! If one is exposing a deadly weapon, I'm out of there. Now. We assume that there are norms and standards for civil behavior. Exposing a deadly weapon for no apparent reason is not a norm and standard. It's a sign of a willingness to frighten the bejesus out of people. And THAT'S not normal. I don't care if the only danger is that the carrier blows h/h knees to bits by forgetting to apply the safety to a sidearm and have the weapon go off. That danger is enough to get me away as quickly as possible. YOU might feel comfortable with open carry. Good for you. You have a rationale that, IMO, doesn't apply to people you don't know who have a deadly weapon in a public setting. You have no idea what they're thinking or what they will do with the power that they have in their very immediate possession.
