14. I have wondered about that, although my degree didn't help me get my job

Ironically enough, the fact that I had a college degree impressed exactly no one at the place where I ended up working. The questions that mattered were "what can you bring to the table?" and "what languages are you comfortable speaking?"

My degree was only a factor in proving that I could "stick it out." I just started my 45th year with my outfit, so I guess I have passed that test, at least. There is even some talk about making my position permanent

(I hit the ground running, almost literally, and we never got around to me signing anything)
