And no one ever considered criminal charges against him. More, the Democrats in DC were not interested in impeaching him. That is a situation that is totally distinct from Trump.

Trump is a sociopath. While it is true that defense lawyers never find dealing with sociopaths to be pleasant, and that their constant lying makes defending them even more difficult than defending the normal guilty person, it is not a legal defense.
