Boot camp is a high intensity group workout. Not for people that need to lose weight who are morbidly obese. That is a good way for someone to become injured or worse. There ARE programs at many gyms for people in her condition and it doesnt start with high intensity workouts. it starts with keeping heart rate in a certain range and building from there.
With all that said the way this guy verbalized it is just wrong. Nobody deserves to be talked to like this and he should have been more supportive in offering some advice and how she may work her way into his program.
